Rain

With the first hurricane of the 2010 hurricane season - Hurricane Alex - baring down on the coast south of us we were expected to get bands of showers throughout the day today. We haven't seen a single drop. I was hoping for some rain today to help get the rest of the flags in the ground in preparation for the long 4th of July weekend.

TiVO

We were late to the Tivo revolution. I thought it was a lot like a VCR - one of the pieces of equipment that sat around mostly collecting dust. But after listening to one of my coworkers sing the praises of Tivo we finally decided to get one. And now? Now I don't know what I do with it. Especially on days like today where my time was spent equally between the bed, the couch and the bathroom.

And, yes, that's dust. Apparently I need to dust my trusty friend every once in a while... :)

Raspberries

Turn about is fair play. Connor giggles like a madman when you blow raspberries on his belly. While he and daddy were rough housing daddy's shirt came up exposing some of his belly. Connor took the opportunity to "blow raspberries." He leaned down a little and spit/drooled all over daddy. Hilariously funny doesn't even begin to describe it. :)

A trip down the Colorado River

On the last day of our mini vacation we signed up for a kayaking trip down the Colorado River. We spotted gar and carp in the river, and bald eagles flying overhead. We coasted along with the gentle current down the river. What a perfect ending to a wonderful stay.

Heat Stroke

It always sounds like a good idea... A nice little hike. It's not that much further... on the map. :) We made it to the scenic overlook at McKinney Roughs. It was obscenely hot. The path up was steep - a place no man should venture with just one bottle of water in the heat of the day in the middle of summer so out of shape. At least there was shade and a breeze at the top. And an ice cold shower waiting to greet me back at the hotel lest I jump into the pool fully clothed.

Heaven on Earth

A little slice of heaven on earth. Part of the lazy river at the pool at Lost Pines.

Knight and Day

Talk about perfect timing. My mom was in town. The movie just hit the box office. And I was able to clear my calendar so we could hit a matinee. And I LOVED it. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Kept me laughing from beginning to end. So I am sure the critics gave it 10 thumbs down, but if you are looking for an action/comedy/chick flick - I highly recommend it.

Chipmunk Cheeks

This is how the boys eat strawberries or "strawbabies" as they like to call them.

Shovel until your cheeks are full.

And shovel 'em in quick before someone steals them.

You can always chew later after they all in...

French Fry Fingers

You mean everyone doesn't wear french fries on their fingers?

And wave them around willy nilly before devouring them?

While smiling like the Cheshire cat?

We got a new puppy!!

Yeah, just kidding, but she looks so different I am not sure I would even have recognized her. This is what my 65lb ball of fluff turned into when they shaved 20lbs of fur off of her. She looks so scrawny I was stunned.

To fully appreciate the change - here's a BEFORE picture...

Happy Father's Day

There is no telling what mode I managed to put my camera in today but every single photo came out blurry... :(

Typical Saturday

I couldn't pick just one.

The boys LOVE the bike carrier. So much so they even eagerly run into the house to look for their helmets so they can put them on to go for a ride.

They giggle every time they hit a bump. And they shout at daddy to "Keep it on the road" every time they transition from the sidewalk to the road. And they shout "Whee!!"as the bike picks up speed going down the big hills.

It seems like most of the time they do things to drive one another crazy like stealing each others toys. But sometimes, sometimes they do something so unbelievably sweet it just melts my heart. Like Ryan asking for a second piece of cantaloupe not for himself but for Connor because he wanted to make sure Connor got a piece, too.

And those mischievous little grins. Mostly when they are up to no good.

And the random things we find in the most unexpected places. I missed the exhibit of the terra cotta warriors when they visited. This guy however is a permanent resident at a new Chinese buffet we tried for lunch. A buffet which the boys quite thoroughly enjoyed.

And my project. I picked up the parts while the boys napped and then with a drill, screwdriver, measuring tape, studfinder, and level got to work installing some additional hanging space in our utility room. Much needed space. And while it isn't the Mona Lisa, I am pretty darn proud of my 6ft of new hanging space.

Back in Business!

The camera finally arrived. My favorite subjects were in bed by the time I got it unpacked and charged so I had to resort to taking pictures of their carnage instead of them. :)

For the record, I don't know either... But it kinda of reminds me of the log jam the beavers made at the lake. I wonder if the beavers sit on top of their piles like little kings when they are through, too?

Bit the bullet

For the record I finally ordered a new camera today. I was so excited. Until I realized that it wouldn't be here for another week.
